Title: Study of acoustic and thermal insulation of wood structural assemblies, taking into account environmental impact aspects.

The Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (UQAC) is seeking a motivated and skilled individual for a Research Master’s Degree position in the field of acoustic and thermal insulation of wood structural assemblies. This research project will focus on investigating the properties and performance of wood-based materials for improving acoustic and thermal insulation in construction, while considering environmental impact aspects.

Responsibilities:

As part of the Research Master’s Degree position in Acoustic and Thermal Insulation of Wood Structural Assemblies at Université du Québec à Chicoutimi, the selected candidate will be responsible for conducting research experiments and investigations to evaluate the acoustic and thermal insulation properties of wood structural assemblies. This will involve conducting various experiments, gathering data, and meticulously analyzing and interpreting the results to draw meaningful conclusions. The candidate will also have the opportunity to collaborate closely with a team of experienced researchers and professionals specializing in wood, civil, mechanical, or physical engineering. By actively participating in this collaborative environment, the candidate will contribute to the development of innovative and sustainable solutions for construction practices, aiming to enhance acoustic and thermal insulation using wood-based materials.

Skills and Profile Required:

The ideal candidate for the Research Master’s Degree position in Acoustic and Thermal Insulation of Wood Structural Assemblies at Université du Québec à Chicoutimi should possess a Bachelor’s degree in wood, civil, mechanical, or physical engineering, or a related field. They should have a strong foundation in acoustic and thermal insulation principles and be familiar with wood-based materials and their application in construction. Proficiency in experimental research methodologies and data analysis techniques is essential. The candidate should demonstrate excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills, along with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Effective communication and technical writing abilities are also highly valued.

Duration: The position is available for the Fall 2023 or Winter 2024 semester.

Stipends: The selected candidate will receive a stipend of $23,000 per year.
