NextGen TIMBER Connections Workshop: Call for Abstracts

Location: Hilton Garden Inn, Downtown Ottawa. In association with the 2nd NextGen Wood Conference 2025

Overview

The NextGen Timber Connections Workshop brings together academics, industry professionals, and students to explore the latest research, technologies, and best practices in connections for wood and hybrid structures. We invite you to join us for lively discussions, networking opportunities, and knowledge exchange.

Call for Abstracts

  • Submission Deadline: January 31
  • Notification of Acceptance: February 10
  • Format: One-page abstract (maximum 250 words + 1 figure). Please refer to the template here.
  • Submission Method: Please email your abstract as a PDF or Word file to the Program Manager at tshamsi@ualberta.ca. Ensure the file name includes the first author’s name.
  • Submissions selected for oral presentations will be allocated 20 minutes each. Submissions not selected for oral presentations will be invited to showcase their work as a poster.

Workshop Themes & Highlights

  • Industry Session: Showcasing advanced technologies and commercial solutions.
  • Student Poster Session: Five-minute lightning talks followed by a poster viewing and discussion.
  • Thematic Session A: Three to four presentations focusing on innovative design, testing, and modeling of connections.
  • Thematic Session B: Three to four presentations exploring new materials, hybrid solutions, and practical implementation.

Fees & Accommodation

Timber Connections Workshop (only): $100

NextGen Wood Conference (only): $300

Full Conference + Workshop: $350
