Thank you for your participation in the Alliance Grant events, including workshops and past seminars. I am pleased to extend a cordial invitation to our next seminar, Seminar X, the details of which are outlined below:
Seminar Details:
- Date: Wednesday, June 26th, 2024
- Time: 10 am PT/ 11 am MT/1 pm ET
- Duration: 1 hour
- Topic: Energy Audit of Exterior Building Envelopes Using Infrared Thermography
- Zoom Meeting Link: Zoom Meeting Link (Poster attached for reference)
Seminar Overview:
The construction of energy-efficient building envelopes can mitigate the impacts of climate change on buildings. The development of tools and technologies can accelerate the energy retrofit process for exterior building envelopes. Infrared thermography is widely used for the qualitative inspection of exterior building envelopes. A few researchers attempted to derive the U-value of building envelopes from the laboratory-measured infrared thermography data. This presentation will introduce a novel relative quantitative infrared index (IRI) that can help building owners or asset managers prioritize energy retrofits of exterior building envelopes. A web-based tool that converts an infrared image to an IRI will be presented. The presentation will also identify the opportunities and challenges of using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV)/ drones for infrared imaging of exterior building envelopes.
About Dr. Phalguni Mukhopadhyaya:
Dr. Phalguni Mukhopadhyaya is spearheading teaching and research activities in areas related to the design of building envelopes and structures at the University of Victoria (UVic). During the last two decades, he has developed numerous research collaborations with industry, academic, and government organizations, and his research outputs have influenced many changes in building construction practices in Canada and beyond. He has led and contributed to the development of several national and international standards and guidelines for the performance evaluation of novel construction materials and systems, which have been widely adopted by the construction industry.
We encourage you to extend this invitation to colleagues who may find this seminar valuable. Your active participation is eagerly anticipated, and we look forward to enriching discussions.
