This seminar will focus on a bottom-up analysis of wood demand dynamics in the Canadian construction sector, driven by shared socioeconomic pathways. Mr. Bidhan Bhuson Roy will discuss how wood’s role as a renewable resource impacts sustainability and efficiency in construction, including its potential for carbon sequestration and substitution of carbon-intensive materials like steel and concrete. The study uses dynamic stock-driven material flow analysis to project wood demand up to 2050, providing insights into sectoral wood demand and strategic pathways for enhancing wood’s circularity.

About Mr. Bidhan Bhuson Roy:

Mr. Bidhan Bhuson Roy is a doctoral student at the University of British Columbia, specializing in the Sustainable Bioeconomy Research Group. His research involves developing a framework to analyze wood dynamics in economic sectors, focusing on the trade-offs in wood cascading pathways.
