2nd NextGen Wood Conference: Call for Abstracts

The NextGen Wood Conference 2025 is now accepting abstract submissions for presentation consideration. We invite researchers, industry professionals, and students to contribute to our dynamic program by sharing their insights, findings, and innovations in wood construction.

Conference Themes:
  1. Structural and Serviceability Performance:
    Explore the intricacies of enhancing safety and serviceability in timber buildings. We welcome submissions that delve into innovative methods and refined analysis techniques to ensure structural integrity and long-term usability.
  2. Fire Safety:
    Address critical research needs in fire safety design for timber structures. Share evidence-based data and propose performance guidelines to mitigate fire risks and enhance safety.
  3. Building Envelope and Energy Performance:
    Push the boundaries of high-performance wood buildings by optimizing energy efficiency through innovative building envelope designs. Showcase advancements in material science, modelling techniques, and sustainable practices.
  4. Sustainable Construction Technologies and Practices:
    Shape the future of sustainable wood construction by exploring new concepts, tools, and technologies. Highlight the advantages of wood as a sustainable building material and innovative construction techniques that minimize environmental impact.
Presentation Topics:

We welcome abstract submissions on a wide range of topics related to these themes, including but not limited to:

  • Structural analysis and design optimization
  • Serviceability considerations and performance evaluation
  • Fire-resistant timber materials and construction methods
  • Fire modelling and performance-based design
  • Building envelope design and optimization
  • Energy-efficient building systems and renewable energy integration
  • Sustainable forestry practices and wood sourcing
  • Eco-friendly construction techniques and materials
Submission Guidelines:
  • One-page abstract (maximum 250 words + 1 figure). Please refer to the template here.
  • Submissions must be in English.
Important Dates:
  • Abstract Submission Deadline: March 20th, 2025.
  • Notification of Acceptance: April 15th, 2025.
